Every year, Puchshop.de, in collaboration with Tomoshop.nl, organizes the Mopfest Endurance Race, an event that stands as the highlight of the racing season for moped enthusiasts.
The Mopfest Endurance Race is a 4-hour moped race where teams of multiple riders take turns to complete as many laps as possible within the set time. This endurance format tests not only the riders but also the machines to their limits. It's not just about speed but also about endurance, teamwork, and the reliability of the mopeds.
Each year, dozens of teams from different classes come together to compete, creating a varied and exciting race.
What makes Mopfest so special is the mix of experienced racers and new enthusiasts. Veteran Puch riders and racers from the Puchshop Racing Cup take on young, energetic teams and groups of friends who are hitting the track for the first time.
The race has different classes, such as the 70cc Puch automatic, 50cc Puch automatic, >70cc Tomos automatic, and the open "Legends" class, each with its own unique challenges that require a balance of speed, precision, and technique.
For many participants, it's not just about winning but about the experience and passion for Puch and Tomos mopeds. The atmosphere is friendly, and the shared love for moped racing makes the Mopfest Endurance Race a true community event!
One of the most iconic moments of the Mopfest Endurance Race is the start, which takes place in traditional Le Mans style. Riders sprint from the sideline to their moped, start the engines, and race off, creating a spectacular beginning to the race. The excitement is immediately palpable, and the crowd cheers the teams on with enthusiasm.
During the race, everything revolves around a solid strategy. Smart pit stops, quick rider changes, and good teamwork are essential to complete as many laps as possible and overcome any mishaps. Mechanical issues, falls, and fatigue can suddenly set any team back, making the race incredibly unpredictable until the final seconds.
Each year, the team with the most laps completed goes home with a unique trophy, designed and created by artist Mark Hooijmans. This team gets to hold this prestigious award until the next edition, where they'll return to defend it.
Saturday, November 2nd, marked the Mopfest Endurance Race 2024! After racing for 4 hours in the pouring rain in 2023 on the Landsard kart circuit in Eindhoven, the weather gods were kinder to the riders for this second edition. The practice sessions took place on a wet track, but by the start, a dry line had appeared, and the rest of the day remained clear.
