YouTube: From 25 km/h to 45k m/h
The information below applies to a Tomos A35 / Flexer model with 16" wheels and with the manifold to the right. For models with reed valve cylinder and the carburettor below the frame or to the left of the frame with a Bing carburettor, it is partly the same.
Basically, both Tomos models are largely the same. A 25 km/h Tomos is as it were a 'limited' 45 km/h Tomos. Many parts are therefore the same, with a few modifications the Tomos can be converted.
Part | 25 km/h | 45 km/h |
Cylinder | 49cc (38mm) | 49cc (38mm) |
Piston | Closed piston | Piston with slots |
Cylinder head | 25 km/h head | 45 km/h head |
Inlet manifold | 14mm with 12mm bus (restricted) | 14mm |
Carburetor | Dellorto SHA 14/9 | Dellorto SHA 14/12 |
Air filter | With suction rubber | Without suction rubber |
Ignition setting (if you don't have a pick-up) | Bottom mark | Top mark |
Exhaust | 18mm with S-curve | 22mm |
Front sprocket | 26 teeth | 26 teeth |
Rear sprocket | 33 teeth | 22 teeth |
So the parts that need to be replaced to convert the Tomos from a moped to a moped are the following:
- Piston with slots
- Cylinder head (45 km/h head or high pressure)
- Inlet manifold (de-restrict the old manifold or get a 14 or 15mm version)
- Exhaust (22mm or bigger)
- Carburetor Dellorto SHA 14/12 (14/9 with a bigger jet will also work but not optimal)
- De-restrict air filter (remove inlet tube)
- Adjust ignition timing (see manual)
- Rear sprocket 22 teeth
